Richmond, Virginia – July 2, 2024
Today, Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Rich Anderson issued the following statement on Senate Democrats’ failure to protect the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program (VMSDEP):
“Virginia Democrats have once again put partisan politics ahead of serving our Commonwealth, and now military families are paying the price.
As a veteran, it is unconscionable to me that a few vindictive Democrats in the Virginia Senate are holding up critical benefits for our veterans, first responders, and the families of those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. Instead of working with Republicans to take action on this important legislation, Democrats have devolved into childish bickering amongst themselves.
Despite being in the minority, Virginia Republicans have already led a unanimous 92-0 full repeal of the changes to VMSDEP in the House of Delegates. Senate Republicans stand ready to do the same, and Democrats should work with them to immediately pass this bill and send it to Governor Youngkin’s desk for signature.
The utter lack of Democrat leadership on this issue is stunning and an insult to the service of our great veterans and military community. Not only have Democrats in the Senate failed to act, but elected Virginia Democrats at the federal level, including Tim Kaine, Mark Warner, and Abigail Spanberger, who wants to be the next Governor of Virginia, have refused to speak up.
Their silence is deafening."

RICHMOND, VA -- Governor Glenn Youngkin today released the following statement after the Senate Democrats failed to pass bipartisan VMSDEP bill.
“The Senate Democrat leadership is hurting our military heroes, first responders and their families every time they show up and do nothing, as well as wasting time and taxpayer money,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “A full, clean repeal, which passed out of the House unanimously, and was supported by a bipartisan majority in the Senate, could have been signed today. An additional $45 million appropriation could have passed the Senate today, as well. Senate Democrat Leadership instead insisted on making changes to benefits without an open process. Changes to VMSDEP need to occur in an open, transparent process during the regular legislative session, with our Gold Star, military and first responder families at the table. The Senate and House need to agree to return next week, on the same day, so we can settle this issue once and for all, with the clean, and full, repeal bill. If they can’t agree on coming back together to fix this, I will call them back to do exactly that.”

06/26/2024: In his latest Sixth District Perspectives with Congressman Ben Cline newsletter,
Ben writes, "As we approach the halfway point of the year, the same problems created by this Administration
unfortunately continue to plague our Nation. Inflation is still high in several sectors of our
economy, and Americans continue to watch the dangerous surge of illegal migrants coming across
our border. On a brighter note, I was honored to be named by Chairman Moolenaar to the Select
China Committee's Policy Working Group on critical mineral supply chains. Rest assured, as the
work of getting America back on a path to prosperity continues, I will continue fighting for the Sixth
District.
The Disastrous Consequences of Biden's Open Borders
Joe Biden’s failed Far Left open border policies continue to fuel the historic invasion happening
at our borders, jeopardizing the safety and security of every American. Just last week, it was
reported that there were 170,723 illegal immigrant encounters at our Southern Border in the month
of May. That means there have now been over 9.6 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide,
which is more than the population of the Commonwealth. Over the last week, we have also seen
numerous tragic stories in the news about illegal immigrants murdering Americans, just some of
the unfortunate consequences of Biden's open border agenda. We must do everything to ensure
justice for these victims and hold those responsible for these tragedies accountable.
House Republicans know that border security is national security. That's why we passed H.R. 2,
the Secure the Border Act of 2023, the strongest border bill in history. If Joe Biden truly wanted to
put an end to the border crisis, he would signal that he would sign H.R. 2 into law and end this
crisis. House Republicans will continue to work everyday to put pressure on the Senate and Biden
to address this issue and enact serious policy changes to stop the chaos and secure our border.

Required Reading: "A Republic if You Can Keep It"
... by James R. Poplar III
Philadelphia, 1787 a woman approached Benjamin Franklin and asked him, “well, Doctor, what do we have, a Republic or a Monarchy?” Franklin replied sagely, “a Republic if you can keep it.”
Fast forward to the height of the Cold War, political theorist and former FBI employee Cleon Skousen authored “The Naked Communist” which outlined a concerted effort to overcome and control all of the world's governments through the implementation of social progressivism. Although I generally do not subscribe to conspiracy theories, let’s take a look at what the author predicted sixty- five years ago, I think you will be amazed. Read on...
